A New Era for Whippet

On 11 Jan 2020 the sale of Whippet was completed from Owen & Rita Emerson to their friend Nick Briggs. They have been friends for 25 years since they met when Owen and Rita sold S.B.Victor to Nick.

Whippet will be sailed as a private yacht barge and crewed by relatives and friends of Nick. The barge is currently laid up for the winter at Lower Upnor on the river Medway where she has been moored for the past 18 years. She will be rigged out and got under way in April. For this season she will be based at North Fambridge on the river Crouch. Nick and the friends of Whippet will get to know her sailing the East Coast waters mainly between Lowestoft and Ramsgate.

Although many of the crew are experienced sailors and have sailed Victor as far as Bristol, Channel Islands and France as well as all of the South and East coasts extensively. Getting familiar with Whippet as well as introducing new friends to sailing a barge will be the focus for 2020. And of course having a great time socially when not sailing.

More extensive cruises are planned from 2021 onward.
